In-home EMF Survey & Risk Assessment
Electromagnetic fields (or “EMF”) are everywhere. Any device that uses electricity is a source of electromagnetic fields. The wires that supply the electricity to these devices are also sources of EMF. These fields extend outward in all directions — to the ends of the universe, in theory. Therefore, no matter where you are, even if you are not in an area serviced by electricity, your body is subjected to EMF. But why is this important?
Though no national standards have yet been defined in the United States for EMF exposure, recent scientific studies suggest a link between EMF exposure and some health problems including several types of cancer. EMF has been shown in the laboratory to effect the development and function of individual cells and organisms, and, for this reason, federal legislation has been enacted to provide funding for more extensive research into EMF and its effects as well as for public information programs on the subject.
On a global scale, the World Health Organization has done exhaustive research on the effects of EMF and has released numerous publications on its findings. Perhaps most importantly, it has qualitatively identified the biological effects and health hazards of EMF exposure and set standards for maximum safe exposure levels in order to avoid the various negative health effects that can result from both short-term and long-term EMF exposure.
Specifically, evidence supporting short-term effects of low-level EMF exposure such as changes in perception, cognition, and memory has been found, as well as much more serious effects resulting from brief but high-level exposures. Possible long-term effects range from mere biological annoyances that may effect one’s feeling of well-being to much more serious consequences including leukemia and brain cancers (especially in children), fertility and pregnancy problems, and birth defects.
It is because of these findings that we believe it is important to know the average EMF exposure that you and your family face in your everyday life and how it may be contributing to health problems that you may not even be aware of yet. Contact us to schedule your complete In-home EMF Survey & Risk Assessment. Using data we collect in your home with professional EMF-measuring equipment, and combining that with typical occupational values from several authorized national databases, our custom spreadsheet will accurately calculate your average level of EMF exposure and instantly indicate whether your family is at risk. If your home shows evidence of excessive EMF, we will test your home’s wiring and plumbing, as problems with either of these are some of the more common reasons for high EMF, especially in older homes. Our custom EMF Sniffer can also help pinpoint “hot spots” and devices of particular concern.
Our in-home EMF Survey & Risk Assessment begins with on-site measurements of the actual electromagnetic fields that you are subjected to in your home, concentrating on those areas where you and your family spend the most time. If notably high levels are found, we will use specialized equipment to pinpoint the sources, and we will test your home’s electrical wiring and grounding, two common causes of high EMF levels in the home.
Back at our office, using the data collected on-site along with lifestyle information you provide as well as data drawn from several national EMF databases, we will calculate your average daily EMF exposure and provide you with a written report containing all of our findings and any recommendations that we may have.
